It’s 10 weeks into the season and the Hokies have yet to have their starting safety combination of Nasir Peoples and Jalen Stroman play an entire game together.

Injuries and targeting infractions have made it a constantly rotating cast on the back end of the Virginia Tech defense, with Jaylen Jones, Mose Phillips, Mansoor Delane and even Derrick Canteen stepping in to take a few snaps.

Is it driving safeties coach Pierson Prioleau mad? Not really.

“We just try to roll our best unit out there,” he said. “And availability is the best ability. You never know. This game is a game of attrition. It’s also a game of production. Each week in practice, we’re going to practice everyone that’s able and we’re going to attack the game plan and put the best 11 on the field.”
