Three Takeaways From No. 8 Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball’s Loss To No. 3 Iowa

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This is a new piece we’re going to implement with our coverage of Virginia Tech men’s and women’s basketball this season, with the idea borrowed from Andy Bitter’s renowned “Five Thoughts.” Basketball games are almost always shorter and involve fewer people, meaning there are often fewer thoughts to summarize.

We won’t do this for every non-conference game, just the big ones, but it’ll become a ritual once we get into ACC play. What better game to kick the series off with than Thursday night’s heavyweight clash between No. 8 Virginia Tech and No. 3 Iowa in the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C. The Hawkeyes won 80-76 in front of more than 15,000 fans.
