The phone conversations had been regular, at least weekly for the past three months. There were also occasional meet-ups over FaceTime.

But until this past weekend, Louisville Male (Ky.) center Isaac Sowells had never physically met Virginia Tech assistant coach Ron Crook in-person, let alone been to Blacksburg. On Saturday, he did both for the Hokies’ win over Wake Forest and left with a scholarship offer.

Sowells now counts 15 scholarship offers. It’s a growing list that also includes Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, South Carolina and Duke. Sowells has an end date in mind, as he plans to graduate from high school next December. There’s still quite a bit of time before then, and he’s leaving all doors open.
