Tuten’s Toughness Has Led To Revitalized Run Game For Hokies

A few thoughts ran through Hokies running back coach Elijah Brooks’ head when Bhayshul Tuten went airborne near the goal line against Florida State last weekend, hurdling a defender on his way to a second-quarter touchdown.

They were, in order: “No, no, no. Yes.”

“That’s an instinctive move and you never want to take their creativity away from them,” Brooks said, “but I like for them to stay on the ground.”

That’s nitpicking, to be sure. The Hokies are just happy to be having run plays develop that long after the way they started the year.
