All right, Virginia Tech is 1-0. While the result could have been more dominant, the Hokies did cover, and I think we can all agree that it’s a better start than last season.

All in all, it was a mixed bag. Tech didn’t perform well in the running game on either side of the ball, but there were plenty of positives to take away from the game…

1: +3 turnover margin, and that will win you a lot of games.
2: Only four penalties, two of which were targeting.
3: Improved passing game.
4: Dominant pass blocking.
5: Good special teams play.
6: Very good pass rushing when VT knew ODU had to pass.

In short, it was better football than we saw last season. Let’s take a look at some of the bigger talking points.
