Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball: Behind The Scout

Virginia Tech experienced unprecedented success in 2022-23, winning the ACC tournament, earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament and advancing to the Final Four.

There were a number of factors that played a hand in the historic season. Three constants in the program — Greg Werner, Tim Clark and Erin Cash — who spent seven years getting the program to new heights. Kenny Brooks and the family culture he created. The incredible players, from All-Americans Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore and WNBA picks Taylor Soule and Kayana Traylor to Cayla King and D’asia Gregg.

Three of the most important pieces that didn’t get enough attention, though, were Lindsey Hicks, Radvile Autukaite and Will Sims.

Brooks frequently called his staff “the best in the country” throughout the year. But why was the unique bond between the three assistants so significant to the Hokies?
