Virginia Tech invited the media to chat with its football assistants before the Miami men’s basketball game on Tuesday night. Chris Coleman and I were both in attendance for Tech Sideline.

We had the opportunity to speak with eight coaches, four on each side of the ball. Cornerbacks coach Derek Jones was unavailable on the defensive side, and quarterbacks coach Brad Glenn was not in attendance after accepting the offensive coordinator role at Cincinnati earlier that afternoon.

On Thursday, we’ll go over the defense. Friday, we’ll discuss the offensive coaches. Chris Coleman will have a column on Monday to explain what stood out to him during the conversation.

Marve, who took over the playcalling in the final game of the 2022 season at Liberty, was humble and didn’t speak much on that topic. He did, however, explain how special it was to finally get that win and show that the hard work paid off.
