Virginia Tech Basketball Is Good, But Can Still Get Better

Finally, I get to write an article about Virginia Tech basketball. I had originally meant to write this article yesterday, and I wanted to write a little something last week as well, but the transfer portal and such things really eats into your time.

I can’t imagine being a college football coach this time of year, especially one that has a bowl game to prepare for. With Signing Day pushed up to close to Christmas these days and the transfer portal “window” officially being open beginning on December 5, how do you finish out your high school class, recruit transfer portal guys and prepare for a bowl game? That’s especially true if you have one of the earlier bowl games.

Seriously, how in the heck are the coaches at Miami (OH) and UAB supposed to prepare for the Bahamas Bowl, which takes place two days from now on December 16, when they’ve had to deal with transfer portal stuff and prepare for Signing Day, which is next week. Yeah, schools have bigger staffs these days, but it’s still on the regular coaches to make in-home visits, host recruits and close the deal. I don’t know how you do all of those things and gameplan for a bowl game. Unfortunately, I don’t get to watch the Hokies try and navigate those waters this year. Hopefully I’ll be able to ask Brent Pry those questions next December.

But enough of that. Let’s talk about the nationally ranked Virginia Tech men’s basketball team.
