Monday Thoughts: The Halfway Point, Hoops, and Michael Vick

Brent Pry Virginia Tech
Brent Pry and the Hokies got a breather, and now they’ll tackle the back end of the schedule. (Ivan Morozov)

Virginia Tech is a little more than halfway through the football season, and the off week provides us with a perfect opportunity to do a “mid-season” look.

I’m not going to go through every position exhaustively, or “grade” players (or the coaches), or anything like that. I’m going to back out and take a look at every team Virginia Tech has played thus far, their overall records, and what the road ahead looks like.

Here are the records of Virginia Tech’s first seven opponents. Each team’s name links to their team page, so you can take a look at their schedule, stats, etc.:

Virginia Tech has wins over two teams (BC and Wofford) that are 3-11 combined (3-9 when not playing VT). The Hokies have lost three games to teams with losing records (ODU, WVU, Miami) who are 9-12 combined (6-12 when not playing VT). Tech’s other two losses are to a middling Pitt team and a UNC team whose record is finally living up to its recruiting rankings.
