Monday Thoughts: A Look at the Bitter Pill of a Loss to ODU

One day, we’ll look back at this and laugh.

Actually, that’s not true. Not at all. I can laugh at, say, the 1998 Temple game, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to laugh at this one.

I stayed with a friend in Virginia Beach, and a bunch of my college buddies went to this one (same as 2018; maybe I should stop). On my drive from VB back to Radford Sunday, I was feeling philosophical. I was disappointed that things didn’t go better. I did not want to start off the Brent Pry era with that poop show. 15 penalties, five turnovers, and a loss to an ODU team that, bluntly put, isn’t very good. They’re not as bad as the 2018 ODU team, which went just 4-8, even with their win over Virginia Tech. But this year’s ODU team is not very good. Virginia Tech should have won, even a Virginia Tech team that doesn’t have a lot of depth or top-line talent at the moment.
