Meet The New Hokies, Same As The Old Hokies… Sort Of

Dang it. This had been such a nice weekend. Thanks to the courtesy of a fantastic TSL user, Will and I got to tour the USS John Warner, a Virginia-class fast attack nuclear submarine on Thursday. If ya’ll know anything about me, you know I love military history. We literally got to sit in the pilot’s seat. That was a bucket list item, and an amazing experience. For me, you can’t script a better start to the weekend than that.

Then on Friday morning, I sat on the beach. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was pretty much the perfect temperature, and unlike much of the time on the York River in the summer, there were no jellyfish. This whole trip was going as well as it possibly could go. My rental car even got upgraded to a crossover, and it drove like a dream. I literally couldn’t ask for anything else. From the time I left Blacksburg on Wednesday to the time I left the beach on Friday afternoon, everything was absolutely perfect.

And then Virginia Tech played a football game.
