Virginia Tech had a lot of depth up front the last couple of years on the offensive line. That’s not the case this year.
While the Hokies have four very experienced players, especially in the case of a pair of sixth-year seniors, no backups have received much playing time. In fact, several walk-ons have gotten reps with the No. 2 offensive line at various points this spring.
Here are the career snaps broken down by each offensive lineman. As you can see, there is little, if any, experience outside of the top four guys.

Assuming that everyone picks up Joe Rudolph’s techniques and style over the spring and summer, the Virginia Tech starting offensive line will likely be pretty good. Here’s what the five have looked during the limited amount of time that I’ve been allowed to watch.
