On Wednesday, January 26th, Miami’s Charlie Moore banked in a halfcourt shot at the buzzer to defeat Virginia Tech, and the Hokies fell to 10-10 overall, 2-7 in the ACC, dead last in the conference.

I really wish I had screen-capped the ACC standings that day.

Three days later, the Hokies took on Florida State in Tallahassee, a place where Virginia Tech had lost 12 games in a row, last winning there in February of 1990. The Noles were 13-6 (6-3 ACC), and it didn’t look like the place for a turnaround to start.

Sean Pedulla and Hunter Cattoor — especially Cattoor — had other ideas.
