Virginia Tech football has signed a few good players from Ohio in the past, though it’s been a very long time. Tech hasn’t actively recruited the state in a couple of decades, and their most recent forays into the Buckeye state came in 2014, and they didn’t get much return for their efforts.

Nevertheless, despite Virginia Tech’s recent lack of success in that state, I expect the Hokies to be more of a player in Ohio going forward. I don’t think we’ll see any #OH2VT tags on Twitter or anything like that, but I’d be surprised if we didn’t see Tech sign some Ohio players during the Brent Pry era. It could even come as soon as the 2023 recruiting class.

I’ve talked a little bit about Ohio recruiting since Pry was hired, and especially since Joe Rudolph (an Ohio specialist) was hired, and I want to reiterate today some of the things I’ve been talking about. However, before I do, I think it’s important to provide historical background on Virginia Tech recruiting in that state.

A History Of Virginia Tech Recruiting In Ohio

Going through the TSL recruiting database, I think I’ve come up with a complete list of Ohio players who have signed with Tech since the start of the Beamer Bowl Era (1993). It’s possible that I missed a guy or two, as our database is old and can be a bit buggy at times, but this is pretty close to a complete list.
