It’s still somewhat early for St. Frances (Md.) 2023 defensive tackle Colin Coates. Though scholarship offer No. 3 came in yesterday, the 6-2, 292-pound lineman is still waiting to see what’s next while shopping around a bit.

Coates’ offer list now consists of Marshall, Toledo and Charlotte, but he’s hoping for more from a few specific schools. One of those is Virginia Tech, which he visited Jan. 15 for its junior day. While he waits, Coates said he’s keeping tabs on the aspects that mean the most to him.

“First, I look at academics, my major, which I want to get into cyber security,” he said. “Then, I see what type of defense they run, build a relationship with the coaches. I’d like to play in 4-3 defense. I can be that nose, that three-position, too, though.”
