The Virginia Tech Streak That Nobody Wants To Talk About

Virginia Tech football fans have had a few major streaks to be proud of through the years. The 10-win streak, the bowl streak, and the UVA streak were all points of pride for the fanbase, and rightfully so. All streaks come to an end at some point, though. Fortunately Tech was able to hopefully start a new streak over the Hoos this past season, and of course we all hope that bowls and 10-win season are on the horizon for the football program again.

However, today I’m going to talk about the streak that nobody wants to talk about. In fact, I’d wager that your average Joe Hokie Fan doesn’t even know it exists. I’m talking about the 17-game losing streak to Louisville in basketball.

In the days before COVID, which seems like ages ago, I covered every Virginia Tech basketball game in person, ever since TSL got a press pass back in 2012. I’d go to every game, sit in the media room during the postgame press conferences, and interview the players in the lounge, or back gym, or wherever Tech had them set up.
