There are a few visits that East Forsyth (NC) 2022 three-star defensive back Isaiah Crowell has taken that he can look back on. But right now, that’s about the only gauge he has – in-person visits from earlier this year.           

Crowell’s recruiting profile has still risen. He now counts 10 scholarship offers, including from Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Louisville and NC State. But with the COVID-19 pandemic and NCAA recruiting dead period still ongoing, he’s more in an idling position.           

“Really, I’m just looking for an opportunity,” Crowell said. “I do want to win, so I look at that, too, who gives me the best chance to win. I mean, I’m still trying to sort all my options.”           

Crowell,’s No. 15 player in North Carolina for the 2022 class, did get in a few visits before the pandemic, including to Virginia Tech. He was on hand in the spring of 2019 for a practice and to accompany his older brother, 2021 Rivals250 wide receiver Micah Crowell, who committed to NC State in June.           

“I’ve been there and they are recruiting me hard,” Isaiah Crowell said of the Hokies. “Really, I remember going to practice. I didn’t really get a chance to talk to coaches, since we left early, but it was a good practice.”           

Assistant coach Ryan Smith has been the primary contact thus far for the younger Crowell, and so far the communications appear to have gone well.           

“He has a cool vibe, just a cool person to talk to,” Isaiah Crowell said. “He’s young, so there’s a lot of things he can relate to, that’s different from a regular coach.”
