Last month, the Virginia High School League announced it would be postponing football and other fall sports until the spring. Quickly, North Stafford (Va.) defensive back Shawn Asbury II worked to make a move himself.

On Monday, the Virginia Tech commit announced he will be arriving sooner than expected in Blacksburg. Asbury had planned to graduate early, but will now be arriving on campus in December, just after his graduates from high school this fall. He hopes the move will allow him to get acclimated to his new home, but also lose as little work as possible due to the VHSL’s decision.

“Once I found out it was February, it was basically a no-brainer,’ Asbury said. “It was the best decision to enroll, learn the playbook and get ready for college.
