He’d already given his commitment to Virginia Tech on July 22. Two days later, Hart County (Ga.) three-star running back Malachi Thomas finally got to see Blacksburg in-person for the first time.

Thomas made the trip with his parents, a trip he said only confirmed his decision. Along with similarities in offense, he believes the fit and pledge only made sense.

“Just walking around and looking at just the way everything is put together,” Thomas said. “The stadium was nice, and I saw some players working out there. They seemed like they were just having fun, and driving around, it was just a beautiful campus. I loved everything, and it just seemed right.”
