The offseason routine of Rock Hill (SC) 2021 three-star tight end Robbie Ouzts is a work in progress. Even in his downtime, he’s focused on getting himself in better football shape for next season.

“After I get a good lift in, I hit up the sauna,” Ouzts said. “I’m trying to get down to 235 (pounds), from 243 or so. I started at 258, so we’re putting a dent in this thing. I’m still trying to keep muscle mass, just shred up, burn some fat.”

Ouzts,’s No. 7 player in South Carolina for 2021, has plenty of college programs in pursuit, before they even see the slimmed-down version. Ouzts claims 23 offers to this point. But he’s also still trying to figure out which could provide the best fit.

“I have three main things and first, I want to stay in the southeast, so I want it to be a school that I can come home on the weekend, that it’s a doable trip,” Ouzts said. “I want an opportunity to compete for playing time. I don’t care about a guaranteed starting position, I just want the opportunity to compete. Third is a meaningful degree. I don’t want to go to a slouch academic school. I want to go somewhere that people say, ‘Damn, that’s impressive he has a degree from there.’”

Ouzts said he’s only been on two visits since the first of the year, junior days to Virginia Tech and South Carolina. The visit to Blacksburg, on Feb. 1, was his fifth there, as the Hokies have stood out in a few areas.

“The Virginia Tech coaches have been the front-runner in recruiting me the hardest
