Derrell Bailey Jr.
DL/OL
Greenback High School, Greenback, TN
6-6, 255
Virginia Tech went into the state of Tennessee and signed defensive lineman Derrell Bailey, Jr. as a member of the Class of 2020. Historically the Hokies haven’t hit Tennessee particularly hard, but they saw Bailey as a prospect with a good long-term future who could be developed over time.
Every recruiting site lists Bailey as a defensive end. He’s 6-6, and he’s listed anywhere from 255-265 on various websites. That’s great size, but it’s the size of many defensive ends after several years in college. Bailey has a body that can easily carry 300+ pounds, and he’s already enrolled at Virginia Tech. He’s not going to stay in the 255 range very long.
I’m sorry to include a picture of Bailey in a UVA uniform during a recruiting visit, but I want to convey to you what I mean when I say that Bailey has a huge frame.
