WR, Class of 2020
St. Thomas More, Oakdale, CT
Two official visits are left for St. Thomas More (Conn.) three-star wide receiver Alante Brown. The three-star prep prospect is down to five finalists and has already taken official visits to Indiana, Michigan State, and this past weekend, Maryland.
On Wednesday, Brown will be at Nebraska, while Friday, he’ll be at Virginia Tech for official visits. At each stop, Brown, originally from Chicago, has been meticulous in looking at what each suitor offers. He plans to be ready to make a decision Dec. 18 for National Signing Day.
“I just want a family atmosphere, a coaching staff that’s been with each other for a while,” Brown said. “I want a school that gives me experience to come in right away and play as a freshman. Those are the main things.”
This weekend marked Brown’s first trip to Maryland, and it left him with a good impression.
“It was good seeing how the coaches interact with the players,” Brown said. “They showed me how they’ll use me and what they can do for me. I’m already impressed with the staff. I talked to coach Joker (Phillips) and a few guys I know there.”
Brown said he has high hopes for Nebraska as well, when he heads to Lincoln this week.
“That’s a good school, with a lot of history,” he said. “The head coach is a real good guy. Coach (Scott) Frost knows the game. I can see him putting me in some good spots at Nebraska.”
Brown has also never been to Blacksburg, but he already has a Chicagoland connection that has piqued his interest.
