*Note: Pollard was officially listed at 6-1, 246 when he signed, but we believe he had some sort of injury that made him lose weight.  We don’t expect it to be permanent, so we’re listing him at 6-1, 260, which was his playing weight in high school.

Norell Pollard is listed as a defensive end by two of the three recruiting services, though he projects as a defensive tackle for the Hokies.  I could see him as a run-stuffing defensive end in Virginia Tech’s scheme, depending on his growth, but I think it’s more likely that he’ll stay at defensive tackle.

I’m not quite sure that I buy that he had committable offers from Florida and Miami, but nevertheless Pollard’s offer list is solid.  His position fit at the college level was always going to depend entirely on what system he plays in and how much size he adds in a college weight room.  How a coach might view Pollard as a prospect could depend entirely upon the
