Editor’s note: unlike most JUCOs, Brion Murray was a redshirt freshman last season. He will be a redshirt sophomore this year at Virginia Tech. He is currently enrolled.
Brion Murray (#3), a 5-10, 182 DB out of Coffeyville Community College, is the only JUCO brought in to help Virginia Tech’s beleaguered secondary. Coming in for spring ball, Tech fans are hoping he’ll help settle an unstable defensive back situation. Here are his highlights:
0:10—Good press from Cover-2 on this fade.
0:20—Shows good closing speed on this dig route.
1:05—He IDs the screen and gets a hit in the backfield.
1:24—Another nice drive and break up.
1:50—Here he sniffs out the trick play and makes a deep backfield tackle.
2:21—From a safety spot, he fills on the inside run.
3:16—He bends around the shield for the tackle. That’s a good decision by him to “make a play” instead of hitting the blocker.
