The speed of Dalton (GA) 2020 three-star running back Jahmyr Gibbs is backed up by the numbers. He piled up 1,895 yards of total offense and 22 touchdowns last season, but that might not truly do his speed justice.

As a sophomore in the spring of 2018, Gibbs ran the 200m (his preferred event) at the Georgia High School State Championships in 23.75 seconds. It wasn’t quite enough to medal, but it gives a glimpse of why Gibbs’ football recruitment has picked up. He’s now at 14 offers, most recently from Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, though there’s no movement in his recruitment for the foreseeable future.

“I can maintain my speed for a longer amount of time,” Gibbs said. “That’s the main thing. I know how to pace myself better. I just know when to turn it on. I run like 90 percent around the turn, then when I get around that, that’s when I kick it in.”
