Having offers in two sports is somewhat rare, but not quite uncommon. Still, while Spring Valley (WV) 2021 offensive lineman Wyatt Milum has proven to be a burgeoning football prospect, another sport also has schools intrigued.
On the baseball field, Milum has mowed down opposing hitters as a pitcher. He boasts a four-pitch (fastball, curveball, slider and changeup) repertoire that continues to draw interest. He’s also hit 87 miles per hour on his fastball.
But overall, Milum isn’t sure what his future holds. He’s only begun looking at some of his options, including a recent visit, that serve as more of a starting point than anything.
“I look at where I fit in best at really,” Milum said. “It really doesn’t matter, just what fits me the best. The offense we run now is a lot if run. We don’t pass much, so I’m more of a run-blocker. I’d like to go somewhere that runs, but I like to pass-block, too.”
Milum currently has six football offers, from Marshall, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Ohio State and West Virginia. Marshall has also offered in baseball. The Hokies are among those at least keeping an eye on Milum in both sports. But for now, he said he doesn’t know a ton about Virginia Tech, or either program.
“I’d just like to see the campus, talk to some coaches,” Milum said. I just want to see them play. I’ve watched on TV, but I’ve really never seen them play. I watched them play Florida State. They did pretty good. It made me more interested for sure.”
Milum only knows he has an offer from the Hokies, but he has heard a little about them from his teammate and friend, 2019 four-star offensive lineman Doug Nester, who is committed to Ohio State. Milum said he and Nester plan to attend Virginia Tech’s Oct....
