Virginia Tech Gets Cody Brown’s Recruitment Started

At first it just seemed like any other coach who’d stopped by his school before, to make an appearance, show off his school logo and observe. But for Parkview (Ga.) 2021 running back Cody Brown, that appearance led to his first offer.           

That coach that came to his school was assistant coach Vance Vice from Virginia Tech, which offered in May. No others have offered since, though plenty of interest has come. But for Brown, it’s much too early in the process to be too concerned with recruiting, though he has a good place to start.           

“They’re doing great right now,” Brown said of the Hokies. “I’ve looked at their scheme and I like the tailback spot and the way their offense runs. They need left tackles and tailbacks, according to my coach. I think I’d be a great fit in their offense. I can’t talk to the coaches yet, so that prohibits a lot, but I like how the offense is run.”           

Brown said he hasn’t talked to Vice or the rest of the staff since the offer came, but from those early talks and what he knows, Brown has good interest in Virginia Tech.           

“It was pretty brief, but since I’m so young, I can’t talk to them yet,” Brown said. “He’s the one who gave me the offer. He came to the fieldhouse and told Coach (Eric) Godfree they want to give me an offer. It was during track season. He gave us a pamphlet, but he seemed cool. I didn’t think much of it, but it turns out, a month later, they’d been looking at my film a bunch and they gave me an offer.”
