Preseason Thoughts: More Athleticism In The Secondary

Terrell Edmunds, Adonis Alexander, Greg Stroman and Brandon Facyson are all on NFL rosters right now. Three of them were draft picks, and Edmunds was a first round pick. Facyson wasn’t drafted, but he did pull down an interception for the Chargers last night. It’s hard to believe, but that was his first interception since he was a true freshman at Virginia Tech.

Clearly the Hokies lost a lot of talent at defensive back last season, and I didn’t even include Mook Reynolds. But the cupboard isn’t bare. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about this group.

I believe that Galen Scott was a good coach. He coached the free safeties, rovers, and whips last season, and I think he did an excellent job at each spot.
