Ethan West Discusses Virginia Tech and His Recruitment

This spring has been an important one in the recruitment of Cosby (Va.) 2020 athlete Ethan West. Now at 11 offers, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Temple and Maryland have all joined in over the last two months.

Now, West is going through the arduous task of narrowing his recruitment focus. He took in a handful of visits since the first of the year, and ore visits are coming, as he’s still some time away from any decision.

During the spring football practice season, West went to Penn State, LSU, Maryland and Duke. Each gave him more overall perspective.

“I especially remember getting to interact with current players, talking about their lives as a college athlete at the D-I level,” West said. “Then, I liked just seeing how it is to play at a big stage.”

West was last at Virginia Tech in January for a junior day. That visit also gave him a better overall look at the Hokies.

“I got to interact with the coaches and talked with them there,” West said. “But I honestly wasn’t expecting an offer, so that came as a shock to me. It’s always a blessing to get an offer, but it’s cool to get an offer from the school you grew up watching in-state.”
