Nadir Thompson was part of a very deep 2018 class in the state of North Carolina, and one of many high school stars from the Tar Heel State to choose the Hokies over an in-state program.  Thompson was originally committed to the NC State Wolfpack, but ended up signing with the Hokies instead.  In fact, he had scholarship offers from all of the major North Carolina schools — NC State, North Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest.

Unfortunately for Thompson, he had his senior season cut short because of an injury.  He rushed for 115 yards on 21 carries and caught two passes for 78 yards before getting knocked out of action.  He also completed 5-of-14 passes.  Those stats are per his profile.  His lack of playing time as a senior probably affected his recruiting ranking with Rivals and 247Sports to a certain extent.  We aren’t exactly sure what his injury was.  A Google search turned up several articles that mentioned he was injured, but none of them went into specifics.

Thompson is one of those players whose film doesn’t really match his testing numbers.
