
What a classic. In a volatile season of ups and downs, Virginia Tech put another notch on their Cassell Coliseum belt with a 64-63 win over a fifth-ranked Duke team that will put a lot of players in the NBA.
I don’t even know where to begin, but I’ll start with this — whether you were in Cassell for this one or watching it on ESPN’s Big Monday broadcast, this one was a treat.
In Cassell, nervousness as Duke dominated early gave way to hysteria and a court-rushing celebration at the end. You got to witness a (nearly) last-second shot for the win.
You also saw a once-in-a-decade phenomenon, a coach taking the microphone and addressing the crowd.

The Cassell corners were full, and those in attendance agree that when it peaked, this crowd was as loud as any Cassell has seen, even with the hundreds of Duke fans in attendance.
