Eight offers are in for 2019 Northeastern (NC) three-star athlete JR Walker (6-1, 205). His future school and position are both unknown, but Walker could be close to at least taking the next step in his recruitment.

Walker has made some progress with a pair of visits over the past few weeks. On Sept. 30, he visited Virginia Tech for its game against Clemson, and the previous weekend he was at North Carolina. Both trips gave him a better perspective as he continues to delve into his options.

Tennessee is the most recent program to offer, joining a group that consists of Virginia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, South Carolina, Michigan State, Wake Forest and East Carolina.

“The first thing I want to see is how they are in what I want to major in, which is business,” Walker said. “I want to see how they are in that program, see how the coaches are, the program and then the players.”

Walker, Rivals.com’s No. 16 player in North Carolina for 2019, made his first trip to Blacksburg for the Hokies’ game against Clemson. A couple of aspects particularly stood out.

“It was nice, especially for the first time,” Walker said. “I got to see how Blacksburg was. And when I got there, I had tons of fun and that was a good thing.”

Walker said he was a bit surprised by one thing.
