Virginia Tech has depth issues at defensive tackle, and to a lesser extent at defensive end. That’s not the case in the secondary, where the Hokies have a lot of experience and a lot of talent. This unit should be the strength of the defense in 2017. It starts on the outside with experienced corners, and it extends to the free safety spot with a guy I believe might be the best overall football player on the entire team.
Good Depth at Cornerback
There can’t be many teams across the country with as much experience at cornerback as the Hokies.
Brandon Facyson (6-foot-2, 197 pounds, r-Sr.): 42 games, 36 starts
Greg Stroman (6-feet, 181 pounds, Sr.): 37 games, 16 starts
Adonis Alexander (6-foot-3, 197 pounds, Jr.): 25 games, 13 starts
Total: 104 games, 65 starts
That’s exactly the kind of experience you want heading into a game against a team like West Virginia.
