2017 Offensive Line Preview: Hokies Strong on the Left Side

Offensive line play is something that Virginia Tech fans think about often.  The Hokie Nation has seen everything from dominant offensive lines in 1996, to some lower-level lines that struggled to block FCS competition.  What will the Hokies look like up front this season?

Known Starters

Right now, Virginia Tech has three known starters and one likely starter. 

LT: Yosuah Nijman (Jr.)
LG: Wyatt Teller (r-Sr.)
C: Eric Gallo (Sr.)
RG: ?
RT: most likely Tyrell Smith (r-So.)

There is plenty of confidence about the left side of the offensive line.  Wyatt Teller most certainly will be an NFL draft pick next May, and Yosuah Nijman has that ability as well.  Eric Gallo isn’t physically dominant, but he’s entering his third season as a starter and he’s a reliable player.  From center to left tackle, the Hokies have a lot of experience.

Nijman: 26 games, 14 starts
Teller: 40 games, 30 starts
Gallo: 29 games, 25 starts
