There might be 22 offers in for Archbishop Wood Catholic (Pa.) four-star tight end Kyle Pitts. But really, he’s strongly considering just a few schools in that group.
Pitts, No. 202 in the Rivals250, made just three visits this spring. Two more are coming, beginning this weekend, which could give him even more clarity on his recruitment.
Throughout the process, though, Pitts said he has taken the same list of criteria into account.
“The main thing is somewhere I’ll feel comfortable for however long I’ll be there,” he said. “Then, somewhere I want to go to school, and not just for football. I’m thinking I’ll do business or finance. I want it to be a good program and a lot of tradition for winning and turning out people to the league.”
Pitts made trips to Virginia Tech, Maryland and Rutgers this spring. But it was the first that left the biggest impression.
“I like them, but I don’t have a lot of interest in those schools but Virginia Tech,” Pitts said. “I just have a great connection and just the relationship with the coaches. I talk to them like once a week and they keep in touch.”
Most of that communication has been with assistant coach Brian Mitchell. Pitts said he’s enjoyed their conversations.
“He’s just a cool guy,” Pitts said. “We just talk about life, and when I do talk to him, it’s just a regular conversation. He doesn’t call me every day or anything like that. But we do have good conversations.”
