Last night, Virginia Tech scored 99 points in 40 minutes of basketball.  That includes 62 points in the second half, which comes out to over three points per minute.  I’m stating the obvious here, but this team can really score.  Winning is more important than anything, but the Hokies are doing that while also putting a very entertaining product on the court.

I don’t go back to the 80s.  I know most of you guys do, but I don’t, So I can’t comment on those teams.  But, being a heavy follower of Virginia Tech basketball since 1995, I can say without hesitation that this is the most entertaining basketball product that I’ve ever seen in Blacksburg, and I say that as a guy who has missed maybe eight or nine home games since the 2001-02 season.  I enjoyed what the Hokies did in 1995, 1996, 2007 and several other seasons during the last 22 years, but for my money, none of those teams can beat this current team for pure entertainment value.  I don’t know that this is the best Tech team that I’ve seen, but it’s certainly my favorite to watch.

Check out some of these rankings, and remember that there are 351 teams in Division I college basketball.
