It might be the offseason, but the past few months have still been quite busy for Western Branch (Va.) three-star defensive tackle Jalen Alexander.
Alexander has put in plenty of work in the weight room to ready himself for his senior season. And likewise, his recruitment has also picked up. Alexander now has 10 offers, most recently from Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Maryland, Purdue and Buffalo.
In many ways, the work in the weight room and on the recruiting trail have gone hand in hand. Alexander, Rivals.com’s No. 25 defensive tackle and No. 10 player in Virginia, said he knows the work he puts in will be reflected in his offers. And while he continues to look around, a few schools might be in a bit better position than others.
“I feel way better than last year, for sure,” Alexander said. “It’s just been a couple of months working out, but I work out six days a week. I’m just trying to be the best player I can be.”
He’s also going over a few specific characteristics in his rundown of college options.
“Number one, I’m looking at how much I’m a priority to the university,” Alexander said. “Also, if they have my major I’m looking in, and then overall, just how I feel there, like if it’s a second home, basically.”
