1) I know info is limited on redshirts, but it would be interesting to get a quick review of the 2016 class as possible contributors this year. – CambridgeHokie

Chris Coleman: Sure, I can do that. I’m going to talk about 2016 guys who redshirted, and others who played some, but not a lot.

QB Josh Jackson: Jackson impressed during the month of August last year, and he spent the season with Justin Fuente and Brad Cornelsen rather than going to the scout team. He’s the odds-on favorite to be Virginia Tech’s starting quarterback next season.

WR Phillip Patterson: The Hokies nearly pulled Patterson’s redshirt last season, during the UNC game when Isaiah Ford was hurt. The coaching staff is very impressed with his potential, and he could be in the starting lineup this year.

WR Eric Kumah: With Isaiah Ford and Bucky Hodges gone, Kumah should play a bigger role.

OT T.J. Jackson: Jackson is more advanced than people thought coming out of high school, and could compete for time at right tackle this spring.
