What a week for the Hokies last week, huh?! Big wins in football and basketball, and the women’s team is out-doing them all by staying unbeaten. It is a good time to be a Hokie! The men’s basketball Hokies took down a top-5 Duke squad, and the game was never in doubt. So what does this win mean, exactly? Well, that can be answered many different ways — and all be true.

It means everything! As the Blue Devils keep winning and staying highly rated, it only improves Tech’s resume.

It means less than people are making it out to be. The perception (right or wrong) is still that the Hokies were at home against a Grayson Allen-less Duke squad.

It means nothing! IF the Hokies mess the bed for the rest of the ACC schedule and fail to capitalize on this performance.

Realistically, wins like this are always a good thing regardless of who played/didn’t play, where it was, and what the rest of the season’s outcome may be. This is a win you can point to at the end of the season and say “we are closing the gap.” When you look at where the programs were prior to the game, they might point to this game against the Hokies as the moment the wheels started to come off in Durham. Coach Krzyzewski’s back collapsed from having to carry the weight of expectation. Grayson Allen has to wonder what this will mean for him. Coach Krzyzewski will be out for up to four weeks.
