Though quarterback is the hot topic among the fanbase, whoever starts at that spot for the Hokies will hopefully be helped by a talented and experienced offensive line. It’s rare that Tech fans get a chance to feel halfway decent about their offensive line heading into a season. 2016 is one of those years.
An Experienced Nucleus
Virginia Tech has five experienced players who have seen a lot of snaps in games and a sixth player who is entering his fourth year in the program and battling for a starting spot.
OT Jonathan McLaughlin: Three letters earned, 2,246 snaps, 35 games, 35 starts
OG Augie Conte : Three letters earned, 1,610 snaps, 31 games, 23 starts
OG Wyatt Teller: Two letters earned, 1,418 snaps, 26 games, 18 starts
C Eric Gallo: Two letters earned, 885 snaps, 16 games, 13 starts
OT Yosuah Nijman: One letter earned, 301 snaps, 12 games, 0 starts
OT/OG Parker Osterloh: One letter earned, 57 snaps, 17 games, 0 starts
That’s a lot of experience. To be precise, it’s 12 letters, 6,517 snaps, 134 games and 89 starts. That group combines together to form one of the most experienced groups in the country.
