Virginia Tech hosted a large number of top recruits for their Junior Day event in Blacksburg on Saturday afternoon.  One of those prospects was Cox High School (Virginia Beach) defensive end Jordan Williams.

Williams is the #10 recruit in the state in TSL’s early rankings. ranks him the #10 prospect in the state as well, while he is #22 in 247’s rankings. TSL spoke with Williams last night via direct Twitter message, and he confirmed that his visit to Blacksburg went very well.

“It went really great,” Williams said. “I really enjoyed my time there and it was nice seeing campus and being able to to see all of the coaches and talk to them.”

The Hokies sit in a good position right now, but they will have to fend off many other major programs. The 6-5, 245-lb prospect already holds offers from Clemson, Penn State, Pitt, UNC, NC State, Maryland, and others.

Williams was able to spend a lot of time with the coaching staff on Saturday. Besides area recruiter Zohn Burden, he also got to know Bud Foster, defensive line coach Charley Wiles, and wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins. Of course, Justin Fuente led the charge.

“He’s a great coach and person,” Williams said of Tech’s new head coach. “I think he will be able to do great at Virginia Tech.”

Though the Hokies picked up a great commitment from TyJuan Garbutt (#4 player in the state) on Saturday, they still have a need for another defensive end in this class. Williams is one of those possibilities. Though
