Virginia Tech’s 2016 football schedule was released today. It has its pluses and it’s minuses, as all schedules do. Let’s take a closer look and see how things set up for Justin Fuente in his first season.

A Chance for Strong Start and a Good Close

I like the way the beginning and the end of Virginia Tech’s schedule set up. Here’s September…

Sept. 3 vs. Liberty
Sept. 10 Tennessee (Bristol)
Sept. 17 vs. Boston College
Sept. 24 vs. East Carolina

The Hokies will not be favored against Tennessee. The Vols have more talent, and picking Tech to beat them right now would probably be a heart pick rather than a head pick. That being said, the Hokies should easily handle Liberty, and will be favorites to defeat Boston College and East Carolina.

The Eagles are coming off a 3-9 season in which they had terrible quarterback play and no playmakers on offense. Steve Addazio is a good football coach, but he doesn’t have much talent to work with. The Hokies beat them on the road last season and
