We’re under three weeks away from Virginia Tech’s highly anticipated matchup with #1 Ohio State. The secondary has been in a flux since the spring, with multiple players lining up multiple positions. This August, things seem to finally be coming together, and Torrian Gray has his guys in their final positions, for the most part.

Recently Torrian Gray has been recruiting bigger players for his secondary. By doing so, the likelihood of having more versatile players in the defensive backfield goes up. The more Chuck Clarks you have, the more options you’ll have. Let’s look at the height of each scholarship defensive back…

Chuck Clark: 6-1
Brandon Facyson: 6-2
Kendall Fuller: 6-0
DuWayne Johnson: 6-2
Mook Reynolds: 6-1
Greg Stroman: 6-1
Desmond Frye: 6-2
Der’Woun Greene: 5-11
Donovan Riley: 5-11
Adonis Alexander: 6-3
Terrell Edmunds: 6-1

Only two of those guys are under 6-feet tall, and both of them are 5-11. Gray really likes length and versatility in his secondary. I’m guessing that’s why he did not want to heavily pursue Wayne Davis. Myles Wolfolk, Troy Pride
