Today and tomorrow are big days for Virginia Tech, as both Tino Ellis and Phillip Patterson announce their college destinations. Ellis announces tonight, while Patterson’s decision will be known on Saturday.
Both of those guys are wide receivers, and both are at or near the top of Tech’s board. The Hokies already have three wide receiver commits, and ideally they would like to add at least one more to this class. Here’s who they have so far, and I’ll be a homer and use ESPN’s rankings since they are higher…
Divine Deablo: 4-star, #172 player overall, #20 WR, #10 player in NC
Sam Denmark: 4-star, #58 WR, #6 player in SC
Eric Kumah: 4-star, #62 WR, #7 player in VA
That’s a pretty good haul already, but considering Tech’s lack of depth at wide receiver, adding at least one more to this class would be ideal.
Tino Ellis: 4-star, #65 WR, #10 player in MD
Ellis is supposedly down to Virginia Tech and Maryland, and he’s been stirring up the drama on Twitter over the past several weeks. There are a lot of in-state influences that will likely send him to Maryland, but I don’t think the Hokies are without a chance tonight. He would be a good pickup, and as a DeMatha guy he would likely be capable of playing as a true freshman.
