Virginia Tech’s quarterback recruiting for 2016 is starting to clear up. Today we’ll take a look at that, talk about the in-state class for 2016, discuss Duke and their recruiting success, and examine what should be a very strong recruiting class for the Hokies.

2016 Quarterback Recruiting is Clearing Up

Virginia Tech had a commitment from 2016 quarterback prospect Logan Byrd, but he changed his mind and has decided to attend North Carolina. However, Scot Loeffler never stopped recruiting quarterbacks. He wants to take a signal caller in this class, and two appear poised to make their decision in late June.

Despite signing Dwayne Lawson last year, Loeffler isn’t messing around when it comes to quarterback recruiting. He has offered at least 14 quarterbacks in the class of 2016 by my count. You can see for yourself in our target board.

Here’s a look at Tech’s current quarterback roster…

Dwayne Lawson (Fr.)

Considering he already has three young quarterbacks in the pipeline, why take another one this year? It’s pretty simple, really. Loeffler is always thinking ahead. He knows attrition will happen. Somehow I don’t think Dwayne Lawson will wait around for his r-senior
