Today our scouting report series continues with Georgia sleeper D’Andre Plantin. Plantin is tentatively slotted as a tackle right now, though with Mike Arnold and Austin Clark in the fold he could just as easily play inside at guard when he gets to Virginia Tech.
247: 3-stars, #125 OT, #112 player in Georgia
ESPN: 3-stars, #136 OT, #144 player in Georgia
Virginia Tech offered D’Andre Plantin in the month of October after evaluating the first half of his senior season. He was mostly a defensive tackle earlier in his career, and garnered interest from some smaller programs as a defensive tackle. Offered by the likes of Appalachian State, Georgia State and UVA (Yes, it’s great seeing those three schools in the same sentence), the Hokies became involved when he started flashing potential as an offensive lineman. He had an offer from Illinois as well, though it’s not clear to me whether or not the Illini wanted him for offense or defense (most likely defense).
I can’t think of a more appropriate last name for an offensive lineman, other than Pancake. Here’s hoping D’Andre is “plantin” some defensive linemen into the Worsham Field grass a few years from now.
Here’s his highlight film from Hudl.
