Ah, the offensive line. We ask the same questions about this unit every year, and unfortunately we’ll probably be doing the same thing for the next couple of years until it’s properly rebuilt. I think the Hokies have a chance to put a solid starting product on the field, but the depth is very, very questionable.
Tech loses David Wang, Caleb Farris and Laurence Gibson. Despite losing Wang in the Military Bowl, Caleb Farris moved inside to center, Augie Conte slid to guard and Wade Hansen played right tackle and the running game did not miss a beat. That’s a good sign going forward.
We’ll break this article down into three parts: tackles, guards and centers. It will include depth chart projections and player projections for the spring. Note that these are simply guesses as to how the depth chart will look when spring practice begins.
