All eyes on Josh Sweat

Landing Josh Sweat would be a big deal for Virginia Tech, especially when it comes to recruiting the 757.  The Hokies lost a lot of ground in the Tidewater when Curt Newsome was assigned the area, but they’ve slowly been building their momentum back up with Bryan Stinespring working the Virginia Beach/Chesapeake side of the 757.

We are seeing the results this season, and if Sweat picks the Hokies it would be huge.  Here are the Virginia Beach/Chesapeake prospects who made the TSL Top 40 this year, and their respective school and future college home…

#1 Josh Sweat, Oscar Smith: Undecided
#8 Jahvoni Simmons, Ocean Lakes: UVA
#10 Trevon Hill, Salem: Virginia Tech
#14 Jaason Lewis, Ocean Lakes, Arizona State
#21 Deshawn McClease, Oscar Smith, Virginia Tech
#23 Jahque Alleyne, Ocean Lakes, Virginia Tech

Deshawn McClease and Jahque Alleyne were recently upgraded to 4-star recruits by Rivals, and they could easily see a bump in TSL’s postseason rankings.  Whether they are bumped or not doesn’t really matter, because the fact is that VT has three of the top six recruits from Chesapeake/Virginia Beach.  If they get Sweat, that will make four of the top six, and that would be huge.  Throw in Harry Lewis from the Peninsula, and that would be five of the top seven 757 prospects on their way to Blacksburg.
