4-star player by 247Sports, #6 overall player in Maryland
The media named Cam Phillips the Maryland Offensive Player of the Year in 2014, and for good reason. He was a good receiver for DeMatha as a junior, but developed into a great one as a senior.
Junior: 34 catches, 632 yards, 8 touchdowns
Senior: 68 catches, 1,233 yards, 15 touchdowns
As a senior Phillips was about as productive as a receiver can be on the high school level. Playing for Maryland powerhouse DeMatha, he is used to play with and against high-level players who also go on to play college football. He is also used to playing with a college quarterback, as DeMatha QB John Lovett held an offer from Buffalo and committed to Princeton.
Phillips was THE standout on a team that featured many college prospects. Just look at the guys from DeMatha who have signed to play Division I football over the last couple of years. DeMatha players are going on to play for Florida State, Wisconsin, Purdue, NC State and others, but the Hokies might have gotten the best of the bunch. He held offers from Penn State, Wisconsin, and most of the major programs of the region.
