1) Which of our younger defensive ends do you see getting the most time next season?

Chris Coleman: Virginia Tech will obviously have limited experience at defensive end next season.

Dadi Nicolas (6-3, 224, r-Jr.): 500 defensive snaps
Matt Roth (6-3, 239, r-Jr.): 33 defensive snaps, 238 special teams snaps
Ken Ekanem (6-3, 242, r-So.): 7 defensive snaps, 69 special teams snaps
Dewayne Alford (6-2, 240, r-So.): 19 defensive snaps, 119 special teams snaps
Seth Dooley (6-5, 245, r-Fr.): 0 snaps
Vinny Mihota (6-5, 240-250, Fr.): 0 snaps

The most experienced player is Dadi Nicolas, and he is undersized. He has a great motor, but three of his four sacks this season came against one team: Pitt. That was the best matchup of the year for Nicolas. He is the perfect player to use against a slow Pitt offensive line that struggles to pass block, and whose QB isn’t mobile. I’m not sold on Nicolas as an every down starting defensive end because of his size. I can certainly see him becoming a star, but I think it’s far from a given.

Matt Roth has played well in scrimmages, and he had a sack against Duke in 2012, but he battled concussion issues this past season. I have no idea what to expect from him. I would expect Ken Ekanem
